There are a few tracks in the United States that have a lot of recognition. Some of them are for elevation change, some for very high speed, and some for just being challenging. More interestingly, the C7 Z06 seems to be popping up at different tracks around the country and we are liking what we’ve seen thus far.
This video’s location is at the beautiful and challenging road racing circuit Road Atlanta, located in Georgia. Behind the wheel is race car driver Tommy Milner. One very cool aspect of the video aside from the split screen of the cockpit and forward facing camera, is that the telemetry is displayed around the screen using the PDR feature available in all Corvettes as of 2015.
Starting with the white numbers at the top and working clock-wise, we have: the vehicle’s speed, the amount of brake input in red, the amount of throttle input in green, your current gear at the top right, current lap time, degrees of steering angle, a tachometer with current traction mode selection listed above, an accelerometer display, and finally where you are located on the track with a trace of your route.
At the end of the video, Milner mentions that he was able to complete a lap at Road Atlanta, in a street car, under a minute-thirty remarking, “that is… crazy.”
We would have to agree with him, as a lap time in that range takes, power, handling capabilities, braking performance, and aerodynamics. As we suspected, the new Z06 really has it all!
