NMCA Indy 2011 Finals Same Day Coverage

SELECT COVERAGE BY DAY:

It’s Eliminations Day at the Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, and we’re awaiting the start of the heads-up classes. We’ll have results for you throughout the day as we go down to the finals – in the meantime, enjoy last night’s final round of qualifying:

NMCA Classes – Qualifying Round 3

We’ve got a lot to look forward today, including what might be the first side-by-side 5-second pair in Pro Street history, so keep us bookmarked. Once again, we would like to express gratitude to our event coverage sponsor, SCT Performance, for making it all possible. Check out their fine line of tuners at www.sctflash.com.

Sunday Notes:

SAM School has been tearing it up all season long and this race is no different in the LSX Shootout.

Pro Street is just finishing up Round 2, and unfortunately the hoped-for match between the top two qualifiers (and the only racers in the fives so far) Rini and Lutz is not to be. While Rini got a free pass from Dyno Don Blasod, who redlit in the first round, and beat Billy Glidden in round 2 after a staging duel, Lutz went out in the opening round.

Joe Dunne is still in it, taking out Josh Green in the first round, then getting a free pass when Clint Hairston jumped the light in round two. With Pro Street down to the final four, there aren't enough rounds left for Rini to close the gap in points and claim the championship, so all that remains is for Dunne to be officially crowned.

In the Pro Stock finals, Andy Schmidt and Charlie Booze, Jr. paired up to see who would take home the Wally. Unfortunately for Schmidt, another big wheelstand resulted, and he narrowly avoided collecting Booze at the 330-foot cones. Check out this dramatic photo sequence:
