The Ford 9-inch rear end has become the de-facto standard for heavy duty race axles in just about every form of motorsports, but even so, the stamped factory housings aren’t the last word in strength or durability. Currie’s F9 and F9-HD housings take everything they’ve learned about making the Ford nine indestructable and put it together in one package. The F9 is constructed of 50,000 PSI yield Hi-Form 50 steel, with a 3/16-inch thick body and 3/8-inch third member mounting face. It can be built for 3- or 3.25-inch axle tubes, and the internal bulkheads are designed to provide exceptional strength through multiple points of contact between the tubes, bulkheads, and housing shell.
The F9-HD takes it even farther with either the same materials as the F9, or optional 4130 chrome moly construction. It can be ordered with either 3 1/2 or 4-inch tube diameters, and the extended outer shell offers more than 5 inches of tube engagement. It even has room inside for 10-inch “Trophy Truck” gears! If you’re looking for the ultimate in 9-inch strength you can add back bracing to both the F9 and F9-HD as well.
