PRI 2014: Mast Motorsports is More than EFI

IMG_0924GRWe’re fans of Mast Motorsports, from their high flowing LS heads to their complete engines, which can be ordered off the extensive menu on their website as pre-engineered combinations or totally custom builds. But for the most part, when we think of Mast, we usually picture EFI somewhere in the mix.

We'd be doing you a disservice if we didn't at least mention the other engine on display in Mast's booth this year at PRI, topped with MSD's new EFI manifold. When we showcased this new piece in our SEMA coverage last week, some readers expressed skepticism over MSD's claimed performance improvements compared to other aftermarket LS manifolds, but the Mast Motorsports staff confirms that these intakes are worth double-digit horsepower compared to other brands they've tested.

That’s not surprising – they built their reputation on high performance naturally aspirated and supercharged fuel-injected LS engines, and some of the fastest late model Camaros, Corvettes, GTO’s, and CTS-V’s in the country have Mast EFI mills nestled beneath their low hoods.

But as we’ve seen time and time again, the same amazing flow capacity that makes the LS family a winner in fuelie form is just as beneficial for a carbureted combination. Whether you are putting together a classic musclecar and want the eclectic charm of a thoroughly modern powerplant topped by a traditional carburetor, or you’re a hardcore drag racer who knows his way around a float bowl and would rather tune with a screwdriver than a laptop, Mast has it covered.

While complete combinations featuring carbureted induction aren’t featured on Mast’s website just yet, their expertise in all things LS is just a phone call away.
