The new Camaro really stole the show this year at SEMA with an explosion of new aftermarket parts to beef up virtually every nook and cranny of the new GM muscle car.
Something we didn’t see a lot of, however, were Camaro drivetrain components. Fortunately, The Driveshaft Shop, which manufacturers several different components for late model Camaro, Corvette, and G8 drivetrains, brought out their popular new Ford 9″ conversion steel rear end housing for the Camaro.
The housing is a direct bolt-in setup that requires no fabrication on your part, comes with the poly bushing and all the necessary bracketing, and is rated to a stout 1,400 rear wheel horsepower. The case features rear mounts that are tig-welded on and a front mount that connects to the original five-pinion bolts on the 9″ center section.
This is a basic housing with a black powder-coated finish and minus a center-section, but comes complete with a set of 31-spline differential stubs with o-ring bushings and made from 300m material for extra strength and durability in high horsepower vehicles.
The conversion kit includes a complete two-piece driveshaft that’s half aluminum and half chromoly with 1350 u-joints, and The Driveshaft Shop’s own “fatty” axles with 30-spline center shafts and REM polished CV internals.
