SEMA 2012: OPTIMA’s Digital 400 Charger Does What Others Can’t

New to the ever expanding line of OPTIMA Batteries digital chargers is the Digital 400 charger unveiled at the 2012 SEMA tradeshow. OPTIMA’s Daryl Brockman explains the reason for a new battery charger release, “After we released the Digital 1200 12V charger earlier this year, the motorcycle, powersport and garden sectors asked for a compact charger that could be used to maintain and charge a variety of batteries in those sectors.”

“With a very affordable price tag, the Digital 400 12 volt battery charger will extend the life of a vehicle’s battery by keeping it charged when not in use, which ultimately saves our customer’s hard earned money,” he adds.

According to Brockman, “Most battery chargers cannot recharge a battery once the voltage has dropped between 7-to-10 volts. The Digital 400 can safely recharge a battery that has dropped down to 1-volt.”

While targeted for the motorcycle and powersports markets, the new compact charger is compatible for use in automotive, truck, marine and RV applications as well.

With a charge rate of up to four amps on larger batteries and three amps on small batteries, the Digital 400 can be used to keep all 12V AGM and flooded batteries healthy for short or long term storage.

Brockman proudly states, “The Digital 400 is also incredibly user-friendly with an at-a-glance battery indicator and check battery icons. Both compact and portable, it will come with a wall bracket and useful hook for flexible use. The charger will also include a battery clamp and DC ring terminal cable storage.”

With the OPTIMA battery charger spark-free connection technology, reverse polarity, ambient air temperature compensation during charging and over temperature protection, this compact charger is as safe and easy to use as the Digital 1200 charger.

Brockman confirmed that the new Digital 400 12V battery charger was not currently available on the market but expects to see dealers with the compact charger in the first quarter of 2013.
