Scouring wrecking yards for used parts sometimes proves to be a worthless endeavor. Finding a part for your classic car is hard enough, but often times the parts you do find are worse then the one you’re trying to replace. Don’t you wish there was someone to help fill that void and get you the hard-to-find parts you need for your car?
Original Equipment Reproduction (OER) is one of those companies that is doing just that. We met with our friend from OER, Edgar Soler, and talked to him about some of these difficult parts and how OER is filling the void and making it easier to restore our classics to the quality we desire. They have an extensive line of emblems and insignia, and they also manufacture classic wheels, grilles, door handles, and all sorts of parts to complete your restoration.
One of the cars at the OER booth this year at SEMA was Tim Allen’s 1968 Smokey Yunick tribute Camaro, which was built by Bodie Stroud using parts manufactured by OER. But just looking at the car wasn’t enough, so we had to take a little closer look at the build, and talk with Stroud about it – there was more than meets the eye with this Camaro.
Another cool ride visiting the OER booth at SEMA was an original 1969 427 Dick Harrell Camaro, a car honoring “Mr. Chevrolet” and keeping the classic musclecar theme going from corner to corner of the OER booth. Harrell built only ten of these 1969 Camaros, and having one of them in the OER booth in this condition is something very few get to see.
Dick Harrell had taken a stock SS 396 Camaro and through his performance center he turned it into this 427 beast that was on display at the OER booth. A pioneer in drag racing and aftermarket parts, Harrell is an icon within the racing community and preserving the history of this car is as important as the car itself.
OER has always brought out some of the best to SEMA, and you can be sure that your car can look just as great with a little time spent cruising through the OER catalog – instead of cruising through the wrecking yards. Visit the OER web site to find out more information about OER parts, or becoming a dealer.
