1,800 HP Ford GT!

It’s been almost three years since the last Ford GT rolled out of the Wixom assembly line. With Fords recent financial “issues” and a government appointed car czar, we don’t expect another supercar from Dearborn, at least not in our lifetime. This white with blue striped Ford GT belongs a guy named “Johnny” who appears to be one of those who likes to “tinker with his toys”. Johnny has turned the keys over to West Palm Beach based Performance Power Racing for a twin-turbo update.

The result? A claimed 1,800 rear wheel horsepower. Now, the video below is just the "break in" dyno tune and some street driving. But there is plenty more to read about below.

Ford GT owners are lucky to have such a cool “American supercar” and are a unique bunch. Some are diehard Ford loyalists who hocked everything to acquire the car. Some are exotic collectors who saw it as just another “hot wheel” in the collection. A select few are “hot rod” tinkerers who are not satisfied with the factory delivered 550 horsepower.

Performance Power Racing started with the factory 5.4L aluminum block and ported the cylinder heads to match the increased flow from the turbos. FPR also added custom turbo spec cams to accent the airflow to the combustion chamber. The factory roots style supercharger was removed and replaced with a Wilson Manifolds sheet metal intake plumbed to two Precision Turbo 70mm turbos, set at a conservative 10 psi. Controlling the PCM is a custom tune by TORQ via a BigStuff aftermarket tuner. Power ratings come in at 1800 Rwhp and 1450 Rwtq. To match the increased power levels, the Ricardo transmission has been upgraded to a straight cut and heat-treated gear set

What we dig most about this video is the removal of the clamshell hood for the dyno tune and test drive. It takes “showing all your cards” to a new level. Any gear head can recall someone in their town that liked to ride around without a hood showing their pride and joy engine mods. We're just impressed that this Johnny guy is not a vain GT owner. He likes to roll around showcasing this $50,000 twin-turbo jewel. Maybe he’ll start a trend among Ford GT owners.

Future plans on this beast are to turn up the boost to 15, 25 and even a jaw dropping 30 psi!

A Pure Beast!!!

Can you say BEAST!!
I love The Ford GT and wish I could afford one casue the sick power you can get out of it is something very different for a Super Car!!
Most Super cars you need to beef up the bottom end and all sort of wierdness that equals over a hundred thousand dollars but these cars come so stout out of the box its rediculous!!
Now god forbid you do what this guy did and touched the long block well the results are sick HP numbers....1800HP!!
I like to see you get that out of an Italian super car!!!
Only The Ford GT can bring the reliable numbers!!
I know we've seen the 1000+ horsepower Viper but they are junk cars plus its built by Chrysler and I personally have no faith in those cars......look great but I've seen way to many of them broken down on the side of the freeway!!
I can't wait to get my little 4.6 motor 03 Cobra running cause that will turn heads too when it makes over 800HP when the final pieces get put together!!
Good post James you got my blood boiling and my right foot the gitters to stab the accelerator and her that 3.4 Whipple whine down the track!!
