1000hp 1967 Chevelle Twin Turbo From the Land Down Under
We are going to take you back in the day with this 1967 Chevelle Twin Turbo. In the 60’s the Chevelle was a very popular car. It had a sleek muscle car-look that changed in ‘67 to a more aerodynamic body style. The engine was equipped with a 396 that produced 375 horsepower, which was a huge leap for its time.
The owner over at Fullboost.com felt he needed more power than the stock 396 power plant was able to produce. He swapped in a forged Motown small block Chevy that would support the power level he wanted to produce. One of the major changes the owner made to this ’67 was twin 67mm turbochargers. This would boost the output of the car to a punishing 1042rwhp & 840rwtq at only 14psi of boost.
Many other parts needed to be upgraded to support this amount of horsepower. His cylinder heads where replaced for some AFR 227’s. The Whole fuel system was upgraded to two 1000hp fuel pumps and huge 160lbs injectors. The brains of the operations consist of a Fast XFI ECU.
Getting all this power to the ground required an upgraded drivetrain and suspension. He kept the th400 3 speed transmission with the exception of a rebuild that would support the 1000 horsepower it makes. The rear end was also upgraded to a 9” with a 3.5” chromemoly driveshaft.
The owner plans on running E85 fuel in the car once the engine has some miles on it and is fully broken in. Many choose this fuel due to the high octane rating and the cheap cost. This fuel is available at most gas stations across the country.
The Chevelle has always been a head turner and is sure to turn a couple more with this awesome twin turbo set up.
