Overall, things on the NMCA side stayed pretty laid back today. Nothing extremely crazy happened. After rounds most racers were kicking back and enjoying some fresh BBQ or chatting with fellow racers.
It rained. During NMRA Drag Radial the sky over Joliet opened up for about 20 minutes. The track personnel worked their ass off getting the track dry. The rain delayed us about an hour, which is not bad. This is the second year out of three that it has rained during the Super Bowl
We have five Pro Street cars in the 6.30s. After the rain stopped three quarters through round three of qualifying, the air got cooler. It was still by no means “ideal” conditions outside, but was dramatically better then the previous heat of the day. This helped our fastest class to get even faster.
Xtreme Street is the largest class as usual with 23 recorded cars today. Though Pro Street is in with a close second. XS keeps the top spot for car count (and usually does).
People not running enough gear. I came across three people during qualifying round two that were swapping out rear ends to get more gear. Is everyone going that much faster that they need the extra MPH?
Jeremy Harris putting his Camaro on the bumper has been the best wheel stand of the weekend so far. By round two Jeremy toned the wheel stand down to a much more manageable one.
Check back tomorrow as we bring you more of the same great coverage.
