Steve Jackson is going to change out the gears in the blower drive to increase the speed and create more boost. He hurt the good motor a couple of weeks ago and have the EZ Street spec 522 ci BBC in the car for this race. He ran a 4.70 last night testing but doesn’t think that will be enough.
Jason Reukert from VP is here racing for a change after a 1000 mile ride.. He has been out only one time to far with the car and they are replacing the shocks this AM with some help from the TRZ Motorsports crew. The car has a 565 ci BBC with a F3 131 Procharger, and a Mark Micke Kevlar belt drive. He just made his first hit today and ran a 5.34.
Troy Pirez hurt the engine during the test session last night and are up in Spring Hill at Scotty’s Racing Technology getting the necessary repairs.
New Cars
DJ Locano from Lousiana is here with a new car built by Wizard Racing, also in Lousiana. The car has a small block ford with an F3 Procharger.
Jay Trissel from West Unity, Ohio runs this 1984 Mustang in Drag Radial. The small block Ford engine is built by BES and has three stages of Speedtech nitrous on board. They have been 7.90’s @ 180 and some 5.0’s to the 1/8. They are hoping for some 4.9’s this weekend.
This Firebird runs an LSX engine combo and is driven by Steven Fereday. The 408 ci motor runs twin 88 mm turbos and this is the second weekend out for the car. They were in Memphis last weekend and ran 7.85 @ 183 with 76 mm turbos on 6 cylinders. They are having some electronic issues with the new car dropping cylinders down track.. The car was built by late Model Racecraft and Robert Fulmer from FX Racecars. They are out of Huston Texas. They also tore the transmission uo last night and Greg from FTI is getting them fixed back up.
Eric Shermans new ride is another LSX powered machine built for the Real Street class.. Troy Pirez jr. will be behind the wheel for the cars debut as they have yet to make a pass. The engine was built at Don Long’s Fast Forward Race Engines in Crystal Springs, Florida.
Josh Klugger was able to make repairs to the car to make it here after a fire in Palm Beach at his last race. There was no major damage but they had to replace some of the wiring and also freshened the transmission and replaced the thrust bearing in the engine.
Last years winner here Will Stevenson is having some issues with the EFI and also had a weld crack on the oil pan. They are getting the pan repaired now. Last night he ran a 4.71 @ 159 for a new personal best.
Dave Hance is here representing Team North and just went down the track with a 5.16.
