With rain on the horizon, Billy Glidden faced Steve Kirk in the finals this Sunday at the ADRL Independence Drags in Radford, VA. Glidden had been running like a bracket car all day, with consistent 4.31 E.Ts; though Kirk was hot on the tree in the semi-finals with a .0003 light.
It would be a true David and Goliath battle as Glidden's nitrous small block Ford would take on Steve Kirk's nitrous big block Chevy. Kirk was again quick on the tree with a .0172 light, but Glidden kept it consistent and muscled out a 4.30 to Kirk's lifting 4.91.
Glidden is the only small block Ford in 10.5 in the ADRL, and he's competing in the
Mickey Thompson sponsored Ford GTO that he has campaigned for M/T while testing tires for
NHRA Pro Stock.
The car is a bit of a interesting hybrid, but it sure works.
