| | | Challenger Market Value Hello folks,
as a new member of the forum and a US - car nut from Germany for more than 40 years plus a Mopar fan for more than three decades, I also tryed to buy a new Challender. The so called "Market Value" here in SO Cal (where I live for the last 10 years) runs from $ 15.000 to $ 20.000 for the few remaining cars in the showrooms. Even on factory orders, they are asking $ 10.000 + with the excuse, they get will only get a couple of cars.
Did the people of China buy all our steel so the factorys can't build enough
cars or what ??? Keep up with the demand Chryster LLC and let us burn some rubber with the new Challenger for around MSRP. We don't care, if the dealer wants to make a "few" bucks more, but what he is asking now. is not what we had in mind when we first got a look @ this beautiful car.
And if you can't come up, we might take the new Camaro instead.
But the same thing might happen @ the GM dealer. We all remember the s.c. "Market Value" on the SSR.
Thanks for reading and keep on burning. |

| | | GR8HEMI,
Welcome to the web site, and thanks for posting and introducing yourself. What a crazy story about the Challenger, it's true that the cars are going to crazy amounts over sticker. But really, this happens when every new hot domestic vehicle launch occurs (see Ford Shelby GT500KR or GT500, Camaro Z28, whatever...)
Why not buy a R/T instead of the big bad big-dollar HEMI? |

| | | Yeah welcome to StreetLegal.
You know, it burns my hide to think that there are some foolish people that will pay that much over list price on a car. Yeah, I understand that there are people that have more money than sense. But, come-on, it will take them 30 years to maybe re-capture their extra expense. I can understand if it is car #1, or the proto-type, but that is not going to happen. Just remember this. When you pay top dollar for a car, you might as well roll down your window and throw your hard earned money out the window. The depreciation of the vehicle is based off the MSRP not the price you paid. But then these are probably the same people that will haggle you over the cost of a $100 item. Priorities are not right nor are these people right in the mind. I can just see it now. "Hey Tom, look what I bought. I am the first guy on the block with the new 2009 Challenger" Tom says, "How much did you pay for it?" "I paid $60,000 for it, I beat out everyone else." Tom says, "cool, you're an idiot!, let me know when you need a good bankruptcy lawyer." |

I think it is only a matter of time before the prices drop on these. That is if no idiots go and buy all of them at $70,000. There are plenty of other cars that are much cheaper than that and as much as I love Mopar, if I was going to be spending $70,000 on a car, it doesn't matter how dumb I am it won't be a Dodge unless its a Viper.
Just my 2 cents |

As long as people are willing to pay that price, the dealerships will continue to sky rocket that price above MSRP. SImple as that. The hype and demand is so anticipated. |

| | | Supply and Demand Supply and demand my friends, supply and demand. If the demand was a lot less than the supply, the dealers would be giving them away and kick in a pair of Charger Tickets too. |

| | | Challenger SRT8 Hello again and thank you all for the replys on my little Challenger story.
Next week I will get a "regular" R/T and the money left over from the original choice of the SRT8 will go for some extra stuff which will make it even faster than the SRT8, because I will take it on the autobahn in Germany, where I run a Magnum R/T AWD now.
And a new Camaro will be there next year too. I rather spend my hard earned money on some toys for myself instedad of loosing it to a bank.
See ya later. |

| | | Well I just want to jump on the band wagon on how cool the new Challenger is!!
I saw one this morning for the first time and it was a Hemi SRT8 and it looked bad ass!!
I like the ass on that car a lot it sort of reminds me of a cougar in some way but all and all the car is a perfect ten in my book with out a doubt.
I wish My wife wouldn't notice another new car in the garage!
