Chassisworks g-Bar Canted-4-Bar Muscle Car Rear Suspension

Chassisworks has released their g-Bar Rear Suspension that converts the leaf spring suspension commonly found on 60s and 70s Ford and GM muscle cars, into a canted-4-bar set up. With this suspension, you can use Chassisworks' VariShock coil-overs or the ShockWave air suspension. It can also be ordered with the FAB9 housing installed already for a true bolt in.

Official Release:

g-Bar Canted-4-Bar Rear Suspension
for 60’s and 70’s Ford/Mercury and GM Muscle Cars

Over the last decade automotive enthusiasts have focused their attentions more and more on the 60’s, 70’s street machines. While many have chosen the purely street crusin’ venue, others build for autocross, open track, and strip competition. One thing they all have in common is a demand for products that allow these early machines to perform, handle, and ride as well as, or better than contemporary machines.

Chassisworks new g-Bar/g-Link system is a very sophisticated canted-4-bar rear suspension conversion that offers the superior handling and ride characteristics of new muscle and high-performance vehicles, to mid-60’s through mid-70’s Mustangs, Cougars, Camaros, Firebirds, and Novas. The system can be outfitted with VariShock adjustable coil-overs and a selection of spring rates, or ShockWave air suspension to achieve that “in-the-weeds” stance at the push of a button. Some applications require minor chassis modifications to facilitate Chassisworks self-positioning installation method. This simplified method uses existing vehicle features to assist positioning and eliminate any guesswork or complicated measurements prior to welding the g-Bar cradle or brackets to the chassis.

Upgrading to Chassisworks bolt-in g-Bar FAB9™ housing avoids some welding, however the system can also be used with factory rear-end housings. The lower suspension links mount at the OEM leaf-spring brackets and when combined with the canted upper links, securely control the rear axle to create a precise suspension-travel path and eliminate the need for a panhard bar. Manufactured to Chassisworks’ industry setting standards for quality and performance, the g-Bar conversion can turn any of the noted machines into a serious adversary on the track, or provide exceptional street manners and comfort.
