Steve Saleen’s new niche performance car brand, SMS Supercars, has made much in the way of news but not so much in the way of cars. There has been raging debuts and showcases at major auto shows, but finally the first SMS Challenger is up for sale. But the first run will be limited to just 100 cars, due to the unavailability of HEMI Challengers right now.
So your first chance to get an SMS Challenger is on
eBay right now, for an opening bid of $75,000.
This
SMS 570 Challenger is marked #11, as the first ten examples are owned by Steve Saleen himself. This is the only one currently up for sale, and comes equipped with a 5.7 liter HEMI motor making 520 ft-lbs of torque and over 500 horsepower. It has a 6-speed manual transmission with a short throw shifter, as well as the patented side hood butterfly induction system. With 14” rotors up front to stop this hefty beast and 12” slotted rotors out back, this car can stop as quick as it can go (though no performance numbers are available).
With such a limited production run, and only a handful of Challengers being sold and even fewer produced, this has the potential to be a very rare car down the road. What’s more, it is made by the same guy who introduced Saleen to the world, one of the most storied names in automotive history. It is also sharper looking than the standard Challenger thanks to small-but-important exterior changes like front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and a custom rear spoiler. Hurry and snatch this first SMS Challenger up however, as the bidding ends on Sunday.
