From an analytical point of view, "Mad Max" was about more than a bunch of hopped up hot rods blowing the crap out of each other. The movie was about survival, our dependency on oil, and the inevitable conflict that our addiction will draw us into if we don’t mend our ways. But who cares about that? We just want more explosions!
Rejoice! "Max Mad 4: Fury Road" will begin filming sometime next summer, and director George Miller gave ABC Australia a sneak peak of some of the vehicles that will surely be blown apart.
Tuesday we told you about a man out of Australia who is recreating Max’s V8 Interceptor and making it available for purchase by discerning fans. This proves that the spirit of "Mad Max" is still alive.
George Miller happens to be the director of the original "Mad Max," so there's no doubt that the spirit of the first will live on through this film. A main aspect of all three films was the wide-open Aussie Outback and the high-powered cars used to transverse it. Mostly, it was about finding gas to keep going.
Miller showed off two cars from the film, including the return of the Interceptor. If you’ve seen "The Road Warrior" (aka "Mad Max 2"), you know this car was thoroughly destroyed by one Lord Humungus. Will "Fury Road" be a prequel? I’m guessing it will be. The other car that Miller showed off was a rather wild looking contraption of a truck, slammed to the ground and sporting an egregious blower. Painted the lovely color of rust, this is only a taste of what is to come.
