Chrysler’s Mopar division is said to already be developing a drag strip-ready version of the all-new Dodge Challenger, but the performance division will give up even more for this reborn muscle car. A new report finds Mopar is set to unveil a supercharger option for the 2009 Challenger at this year’s SEMA Show.
In addition to the supercharger, the modified Challenger is also said to sport a cold air intake, an upgraded exhaust system and a new set of rims according to Edmunds.com.
The question now is how much power will it make? Tuner Speedfactory has already unveiled a supercharger kit for the Challenger SRT8, which boosts output from 425 horsepower to 630, so I would expect Mopar to surpass that number. It remains unclear if the supercharger will be reserved for the high performance SRT8 model, or will be available for the R/T as well.
