Welcome to the site!

I'm not to sure what exactly you are referring to. Tell us more about your car, engine, and the heads you are looking at and we would be more than happy to help out.

Well the casting number is 12480011 of 2-07.I bought them from a guy by the name of Stan Justis in Tenn. My engine builder reccomended we get the heads because of the flow #s 426 @ 800" lift the problem im having is i keep breaking valve springs and bent one valve fixed it and tore up a piston , losing faith in my engine builder cause im feeling like its one thing after another. He says the ramp on the cam is to radical at 40 degrees , knowing i was building it to run KING OF THE STREETS and you would have to drive it 12 miles on the street in traffic at a minimum some are more up to 30 miles. My car weighs right at 3000 lbs. with me in it i have a 4800 stall 2 spd. glide 4.56 grs. 14.75 compression ,1050 dom. done by Stan Justis as well as he done all the portining this guy is supposed to be some sort of guru in this area but i dont know him , does anybody know of him ?My block is a dart iron egle raised cam bore 458 cubic inches, i hope i gave you enough info.THANX the car is a 72 nova.

Sounds like your engine builder might be right, it sounds like there is too much pressure on the spring. If you are running a serious high lift cam or a hydraulic roller cam with anti pump up lifters (worse yet, solid lifters), you can experience the same kind of valve spring binding or breakage. What kind of cam are you running? Some solutions to the problem can be machining out the spring pockets if you want to keep all the parts you have, or swapping out the springs for some smaller ones. You could also go with a smaller lift on the cam. It's hard to say without knowing what your valve train and cam specs are.

I wouldn't fire your engine builder just yet. Have him check out the geometry of your valve train to ensure all the parts you have will work together.

BTW: How are your valves looking? None of them are bent or anything are they?

Thanks A Million You Put My Mind At Ease Since Ive Had These Problems, We Have Talked About Taking The Ramp Down To 35 Degrees From 40. I Dont Have The Exact Duration Or Center Lobe Of The Cam But The Lift Is 856. The Guy Who Built The Heads And Carb Supposedly Won The 2005 Engine Masters Challenge I Dont Know Much About Him If You Guys Can Help Me With That Id Appreciate It. HIS NAME IS Stan Justis Of STALLION RACING IN Soddy Daisy , Tennessee.thanx Again

I think it would do you wonders to call the guys over at Ferrea or Scorpion or Comp Cams. You really need to talk to one or all of those guys. First, you need to get more springs and valves and lifters. If it bends, don't fix it, replace it! You might even need a new cam. I don't know, but that is my recommendation. It sounds like to me your Cam is just too hot! Lots of math and technical jargon at this point.

I have seen where people say you need special valve train and pistons for the SB2.2 heads.

So the question is, with heads already designed for your application, why did you get the SB2.2?

BTW, I thought Stan Justice was a Carb Guy in the GT40 market? Seems like you mentioned him several times, not sure what you mean by mentioning him so many times and in bold at one point.

SB2.2 HEADS iN ST.LOUIS

Thanks For Your Help , After Posting I Found Some Things On Mr.justis And Im Very Impressed.1 As For The Valves They Are Ferrea And My Cam Is Comp . Comp Says Send The Cam Back And They Will Re Ramp It As Far As The Valves 4-6 Weeks Cause They Only Run My Size At Certain Times Which Is Cool As Long As Im Ready By March. I Appreciate All The Help I Just Got A Little Stir Crazy When I Started Tearing Into This Thing ,i Put Alot Of Trust In My Engine Builder And For A While I Was Feeling Like I Picked The Wrong Guy ,and You Guys Really Set My Mind At Ease Once Again Thanks!!

No problem. Sometimes engine builders seem a little crazy, and to be honest some of the best are a little crazy, you kinda have to be.
