A slew of never seen cars came in from the NSCA and other organizations. This combined with the Pro Street rule changes bumped the Pro Street car count to over 2 dozen.
Traction was a big issue today for test and tune. The majority of the cars suffered from severe wheel hop or spun. The cars the managed to make it off the line ended up lifting before the end of the run. Only a handful of cars put down decent runs today.
Sometimes new parts in your car work, sometimes they don't. Jeff Swanson started testing new parts in his Mean Street Mustang. By the end of testing, Jeff found himself putting some of those old parts back on. Sometimes you just don't mess with proven parts. Swanson ended up putting down a solid 10.25 run during testing.
Sometimes new parts DO work. John Langer tied Bruce Maichle last years ET record of an 8.62. But Maichle answered back by posting a 8.67 pass during test and tune.
Double timers Bob Kurgan and Dan Millen were some of the racers pulling double duty on the NMRA and NMCA series. Kurgan made it to the finals in Drag Radial for the Bradenton NMRA race and continues to run the NMCA in Xtreme Street.
Dan Millen made a few changes to run new top class in the NMRA, Pro Outlaw 10.5. The 2007 Super Street runner up also continues his charge in the NMCA
One of the big talks Monday was Tony Pugliese's front end, more so the picture air brushed on it "Last front end she had a top on, but the front end caught on fire. The new front end we painted her as if the top burnt right off her", Tony laughed.
Poor Barb Nesbit. Barb never gets to test, as this is something she has been accustomed to. Barb's motor was missing from her engine bay as it remained at a machine shop in Tampa. She hopes to have the motor in and running Saturday for qualifying.
This is why fiberglass rear bumpers aren't a good idea. Yes they save you weight, but when you run a class that does not allow wheelie bars puts you at risk of splitting that freshly painted bumper. Jeremy Gillam was the wheel stand winner for Friday's test and tune.
One thing that changes with the wind is Fastest Street Car Magazine staffer Jake Amatisto's facial hair. If you followed our coverage last year, it seemed that almost every event Jake had a different facial hair "style". I haven't seen Jake since PRI and found myself strangely interested in seeing what his current style was. I am happy to report that Jake now has a full beard
