Well, the first NMCA race of the season comes to a close on Sunday here in Bradenton Florida. There's a ton of action happening on the track and in the pits as racers get ready for Elimination rounds and strive to go to the finals. Here is what has happened so far!
• Newcomer Mark Micke would take his big-block supercharged Camaro to the Pro Street's winner's circle over Steve King who lost traction getting WAY out of the groove, just clipping the 330' marker on an8.94 shut down run. Not only with a centrifigual blower, but Micke's ride is powered by the world's fastest Turbo 400, the team says.
Pro Stock
• It's a shame to waste matching 8.65's with a red light - but it happened in the Pro Stock finals, as both Demayo and Maichle would run 8.65 (one with a '7' and the other with a '6'.) Didn't matter - Maichle went red.
• Baskin's clean Nova was no match for Swanson's 10.11 to 10.30 victory.
Street Race
• John Macaluso went 9.086 @ 153.08 to beat Brian Edwards 9.330 @ 148.83
Xtreme Street
The flyin' Hawaiian Bob Kurgan would streak to his first X/S victory of 2008 with a 8.237 @ 168.72 over Danny Shemwell's off-pace 9.104 @ 121.1.

• It seemed like it was Widener's race to lose, but then he did just that with a curse-filled -.003 redlight that negated his faster 7.62 to 7.63 possible victory. It was Colletta that took the win this weekend.
Super Street
• It wasn't hard to call Spiro as the favorite this weekend based on his clock-work like 7.0s. Once Blair gets to the next race and Millen figures out his chassis, this is going to be an ugly competition every race. At Bradenton Spiro earned his trip to the winner's circle courtesy a 7.0 to Bligh's 19.3 shut-down pass with his first win in ten years. After five trips to the finals in 2007 this has to be one sweet victory.

I was hanging around the winners circle after the show and snapped some random shots of the festivities. Always good times here at Bradenton. I also put together a little overview of the weekend here through photos.
Charlie Harmon having some fun spraying the DeMayo crew in the winner circle in Pro Stock. Champane for everyone !!!
John Macaluso in the winners circle with Induction Solutions nitrous power. Looks like the rule changes hepled out the nitrous cars a bit. Hopefully Fratena can find the missing power in his blow through turbo combination, look for them to step it up for Bowling Green.
Looks like Charlie is at it again popping the cork on Terry Williams from team Colletta.
Spiro with his crew and his family, in the winners circle once again after ten years. Congrats.
Some people prefer to keep things under wraps in the highly competitive BF Goodrich tires Mean Street.
Number one qualifier in Pro Stock, Butch Kemp's shoebox Nova VERY Clean car right there.
Mahowski stands it up again First round Extreme Street
Speaks for itself
Randall Haynes lights'em up.
Steve King's gorgeous Camaro. Event runner up isnt a bad way to start the new year. Oh did I mention it's a brand new car ??
Vinnie Budano's clutch, out for between round adjustmenst.
Absolutely stunning paint on the Modzilla car.
Troy Pirez Jr. taking a little break.
Steve Cagle changing plugs for Sunday Eliminations
Just a little mess in round one Pro Stock to clean up. The only other significant clean up was Troy Pirez Jr. who had a valve cover leak with his Extreme Street entry,it only took about 10 minuites to prep the top end.
True multi tasking here, rendering video and sleeping all at the same time, amazing. Please do not try this at home , only well trained Power TV media staff should even consider doing this
