More Coming from Round 2 NPS www.streetlegaltv.com
The "should-have-been" finals just happened in Round 2 of NPS with Jim Widener clashing with Jeff Colletta, the #8 qualifier but former NMCA NPS Champion from 2007. Jim did his job on the tree with a .027 to Colletta's .070, and then out running him with a 7.48 at 183.52 mph. Colletta's monster 191.92 mph couldn't run down the tree advantage. Pro Street Round 2 Eliminations
• Tony Bischoff is gone, at the hands of #4 qualifier Jarod Wenrick who used every bit of his 6.34 at 225.54 mph run to dispatch the #4 qualified Bischoff's nitrous-aided Big Block. Given Wenrick's 233.03 mph in a previous run, he may be the most powerful man in Pro Street.
• Micke, Steve King, and Budano also advanced lining up some stout quarter final match ups. |

More upsets coming down the wire from Bowling Green. Xtreme Street Round 3 www.streetlegaltv.com
• Although we wouldn't really call Coble beating Kurgan an upset by virtual of his better qualifying position, it really did seem like it was Bob's year. Coble ran a 8.06 at 177.23 mph to defeat Kurgan who had problems off the starting line.
• A true upset however WAS fellow NMRA driver Zoop defeating Danny Shemwell. Shemwell had issues in the right lane and lifted at half track, as Zellonis won his round with a 8.09 at 170.

• Jeff Chandler and his orange Mustang are going rounds, as he took our David Murray in his SN95 with a 8.73 by virtue of a .010 reaction time and Murray's red light.
• Andy Schmidt got a bye run and ran 8.69 when #2 qualifier Bruce Maichle also broke. Between Kemp and Maichle, it's been a war of attrition.
• Butch Kemp and his 8.45 are out of the show, and we were wrong in Round 1 when we said he got a bye. Rumor is out there that he broke the engine or a lifter - we'll find out for sure soon.
• SAM school with a single, marching on. It's all Mustangs at this point. Street Race Round 2
• Macaluso rips another 8-second run, 8.96, with a pretty solid 1.44 60-foot, to defeat Edwards who was broken. Fratena stepped it up a bit with a 9.18 but he is having major chassis problems and can't get the car to 60-foot. Pro Street Round 3
• Anti-climatic action in Pro Street when Budano drops the hammer on Steve King who just can't keep up pace with Budano's consistent 6.30s and .20s. It just seems like King can run the e.t. but can't do it consistently. That will put Budano in the finals against Mark Micke who ran a stellar 6.33 to defeat Wenrick in the semi's.
Shafiroff is getting it done with his monster nitrous big block against all of these blown engines..! |

It's going to be Glidden and Jim Blair in the finals. Glidden had a single where he ran a 7.00 at 189.82 mph and a 1.06 60-foot. Jim Blair ran a 7.09 at 191.32 mph. Nostalgia Pro Street Round 3
Kevin Parent had a bye run, and ran a 7.89 at 141.67 mph (lifting), and he will take on Jim Widener who ran a 7.52 at 184.02 mph. Widener rail roaded Billy Joe Gordon who ran a 7.77 at 179.35 mph. Pro Stock Round 3
Jeff Chandler, who recently announced that his car was for sale, might be considering that as he's going to the finals at Bowling Green. With a stellar 1.28 60-foot, Chandler's big block Chevy trained a 8.67 @ 157.12 to make Justin Curry's small block feel puny. Chandler will take on Andy Schmidt, a come-back racer who crashed at Bradenton, and his 8.62 at 157.69. What's with all of the Mustangs? At least Chandler has a Chevy under hood.
Chandler's car for sale. Got a spare $65k lying around? Xtreme Street Round 4
We talked up Zoop Zellonis, and then here comes Aaron Stapleton and makes us look like idiots. With a 8.24 at 171.49 mph, Zellonis is starting the tow home as a X/S racer who just didn't measure up this weekend. With his 8.09, he shows big promise and we'll see what happens at the next race.
Stapleton will meet Cameron Coble in the finals, who only made a 300-foot pass. Coble however is knocking on the 7-second door with low 8.0s at 176+ mph, so he's got a big time advantage in the finals. |

As predicted, it's going to be John Macaluso in the finals, as predicted Michael Fratena's hook problems could not be overcome. The entire story here is told in the 60-foot, as Macaluso managed a 1.44 60-foot to Fratena's 1.65 60-foot. That 2 tenth disparity could not be made up, even though Fratena's boosted machine ran 155.31 mph. Tim Hendricks single advanced him to the finals. |

Kevin Parent's stellar 7.61 @ 181.30 didn't matter when Jim Widener broke on the starting line, as he left a significant amount of fluid on the ground indicating an engine or transmission said good bye. Parent is your surprise winner and proof why there is a finish line at the end of the track and not at the start. Xtreme Street
Leaving the best for last, Coble dropped a 7-second bomb on Aaron Stapleton and there was no looking back for the New Edge, BBC equipped Mustang - 7.96 @ 177.32 vs. Stapleton's 170.73 mph 8.25 run. Pro Stock
Andy Schmidt comes back from his wreck to win Pro Stock over Jeff Chandler! 8.65 @ 157.17 along with an unbelievable .015 reaction time did the work against Chandler who ran a 8.70 @ 156.70 along with his .029 r/t. Street Race
Hendricks and Macaluso left together, but Mac's better e.t. carried the day as Hendricks lifted before half track, a losing 12.91 @ 70.2 mph to a Mac's 8.98 @ 154.32. This is going to be a LONG year for the Street Race entrants if Macaluso can keep this up. Mean Street
Jeff Swason (.049 - 10.07 @ 133.03) defeated Jeremy Gillam (.080 - 10.08 at 133.92) in a very close race. Total winning margin was only .04 seconds. The difference was all 60-foot, as Swanson went a 1.36, over tenth better than Gillam's 1.49. Gillam's machine either seems to want to stand up or spin. Open Comp
John Chaille (.144 - 10.135/10.13 @ 132.93mph) defeats Don Bowles (.053 - 9.205/9.10 @ 119.97 mph) Late Model EFI
Michael Stephens (.163 - 13.65/13.50 @ 85.50) defeats John McPartlin (.082 - 12.499 / 12.50 @ 87.48 mph) Nostalgia Muscle Car
Ken Weilbrenner (.043 - 9.87 on a 10.00 @ 134.55) defeats Ed Becker (.003 red) Nostalgia Super Stock
Skip Koester (.084 - 10.80 on a 10.50 index @ 103.79) defeats TD Holland (-.034 red) |

Could it have happened any other way? Bill Glidden comes to his first NMCA Super Street race of the year, qualifies #4, and runs a 6.99 lifting at 186.98 mph to defeat Jim Blair whose Mustang went away at half track in the right lane. Bill Glidden (.058 - 6.99 @ 186.98) defeats Jim Blair (.072 - 8.095 @ 118.16). Not bad for Blair, who ended up in the finals in his first race back. Pro Street
Badda Bing, Vinny Budano dumps the #1 qualifier, Mark Micke, by virtue of his .080 reaction time, 6.31 @ 223.06 mph. The NMCA staff tried to fix the finicky right lane by dragging it repeatedly, but there was no making it right, and Micke trailed Budano by 3 tenths at half track running a 7.63 at 131.33 mph.
