Chris Glass would trash a motor trying to catch #1 qualifier Butch Kemp in Comp Cams Pro Stock necessitating a late night thrash to make round 2.

Scotty G's BTR prepped 78 Olds would launch through his own water nearly taking out the tree in Extreme Street. If you look closely you can see the water under the front of the car.

Bill Lutz would lay down the smack down qualifying with a 6.887 in Nitto Super Street. After a tough race in Canada with transmission woes mandating a late night thrash, it was good to see him run hard and fast out of the gate.

After struggling all season with an errant mount, Mike Yedgarian's 02 Firebird laid down a nice 7.27 pass in testing after installing a new set of Mike Moran fuel injectors. First round performance was a 7.13 on a 'soft' tune-up. "After months of struggling, it's nice to have the car respond to changes" stated Yedgarian, "now it's time to tune!"

It was great to see the McCoy's back out in NPS after fighting an elusive chassis problem that would make the car launch right time and time again. It wasn't until the team found a bad axle bearing they were able to diagnose the problem and get the car running straight and true again.

Tony Bischoff would abort his first round shot after his freshly painted 02 Cougar made a hard move towards the centerline. I'm certain images of his wreck at Atco flashed through his mind as he idled down the track.

Jeff Lutz would close out the night qualifying with a fire right at the hit of the throttle in his late model Monte Carlo. It would latter be discovered the cap to the fuel cell was left loose in the pits. Jeff felt there was almost no damage and said we'd see him in round 2 tomorrow.
