Semi finals

Tony Christian and Coby Rabon had a battle for the ages in their semi-final bout. Tony left first and was ahead by little more than a bumper until the 660 foot cone then the turbo car of Coby came around for the win. Coby will meet Mike the Hitman Hill who won his semi final match when Chris Rini turned on the red light.

Tim Lynch once again proved why he is one of the baddest men on a 10.5 tire. Tim beat Bad Brad Brand in the semis on a holeshot with a 6.662 to Brands 6.660. Tim will meet the number one qualifier Chuck Ulsch in the final.

In radial, Mel Nelson took out last year's radial champion Paul Major. Mel will face the first car into the sixes Dave Hance. Both car ran mid 7.30's, the final very well could be decided on the tree.

The Heavy Street final will be the number one and number two qualifiers Gary Naughton and Sam Gottier. They beat Mike Schmit and Ronnie Souza respectively.

Final Pit Notes

For once there is not a whole lot of action in the pits before the finals. None of the cars have major issues that need attention besides the normal round maintainance. I stopped by several pits to see what was going on, mostly just packing chutes and setting the tune-ups for the final.

Hill will face record setting performance of Coby Rabon in Super Pro Street.

The most between round work is done by the Ulsch crew and Team Mobley. it's no joke keeping this blown hemi in top shape.

Steve Petty is setting up the tune on Tim Lynch's Proline powered Mustang while Kelly packs the chutes.

David Hance will make the finals this year in Drag Radial in the North vs South final with Mel Nelson. The two cars have been getting faster with each pass and this looks to be a great matchup. Bill Futch handels the enging tune on Mel's car, while Don Baily does Hance's. Both cars have all the fans they can find to cool them off.

Again just normal stuff for the Naughton crew. A little bird told me they are looking to run an .09 for Gottier. Lets not forget Gottier is nitrous powered, with a 700 plus ci BBC built by Scotty's Racing Technology
