This is the day. Friday at SGMP for the Boost vs No Boost race. There is a testing session today with qualifying set to start 7:00 PM. There has been a few cars down the track already but no one has put up any good numbers.

Have to give out some special thanks to SCT for sponsoring our new photo gallery and coverage.

Here is the trophy's everyone will be running for this weekend.

Race debut for Shane Stack after the recent upgrades. There was a bit of controversy regarding Stack, and the Scranton Brothers. I will have a report later on the final decisions.

Big Daddy and Dave Hance are in the house. I have to thank BD for coming down to represent Team North at this little 1/8th mile race.

Chris Kotner from Kentucky is here to run Real Street, 560 ci. Big Block Chevy. This is Chris' first time out with this set up.

Rob Remek is here for the Outlaw 632 class.

Dave French is here for the same.

Another new ride is this sweet S-10 PU. First race for these guys. They have tested to 5.50's so far. Frank Liker and Danny Finch are partners in the truck. It uses a 407 ci BB&T shortblock with factory cast unported L92 heads and a 106 MM Prescision turbo.

Scotty has put up top qualifier for the un boosted side. Scotty will be pulling driving duties in this Camaro owned by Brian Taglieri.

Hank Hill is here with Jake Carlton and crew. They will be testing the ADRL Extreme 10.5 car.

Tommy Rainer runs Outlaw Limited Street

Buck Walker had a couple of wild rides yeasterday. He he is waiting in the tech line with his son.

Rick Losee, real street racer.

Another Team North member, Scott Bitzer. I really like the Monte Carlo clip on the Bu.

Per Qualifying Update

Matt Scranton’s best pass today is a 4.88 @ 156. They are going to wait till qualifying to make another hit. His fist run was a 4.91.

When Frank Likert got into a wheelstand earlier today the truck came down hard and caused some damage, bending the rack and pinion and the steering shaft. They were able to replace the rack, but didn’t find the bent steering shaft until afterwards. They are likely done for the weekend.

Josh Klugger finally got into the fours, running a 4.99 this afternoon. Congrats Josh.

Kevin Gibland discovered some trash in the oil filter and they decided to be cautious and drop the pan for a check of the bearings. It all looked fine, so it’s going back together.

Terrance Whalen had a header break on him. He took it down to the Scranton’s pit and Matt welded it up for him.

“Skinnyman” Matt Mungall spit out some transmission fluid in his only pass today. They had a spare ready to go and were swapping it out when I dropped by. They should be good to go for tonights qualifying session.

The test session is now finished, qualifying should start around seven. I will update results after the round.

Friday Night Pit Notes

Buck Walker had a long day. They had to replace a lifter, broke an input shaft on the transmission and just ran 4,78 @ 159 on his last test hit.

Frank Likert got some help from Scranton Brothers Racing making repairs to their Isuzu pickup. They used a vice to bend the steering shaft back, and also to repair the damaged intake elbow that was bent from the wheel stand. After bending it back they surfaced it smooth on a clutch surfacer.

Walf Drakeford lost second gear in the transmission and they are pulling the trans now.

Kurt Sanders and Erwin Rackley showed up about an hour ago. They have some things to finish up on the car tonight and should be good to go in the AM. Matt Scranton drove the car at the 07 US Nationals, it’s a Mustang with 358 ci. SBF and 100 MM turbo.

Skinnyman just ran a 4.852 @ 152. They had transmissions in and out of the car three times today fighting various issues. Steve from CRT Tranmissions fixed it up this time.

Troy got the spare trans all back in. It took out second gear after inspection

Little grudge action between Dave Hance and Eric Dillard. Both racers had to lift with Hance getting there first. They did it again as the last pair down, but Hance had a problem and rolled the beams and Dillard ran a 4.87

Saturday Coverage

It’s Saturday here in Cecil, Georgia at the Boost vs No Boost Outlaw Radial Tire Championships and round two qualifyingstarts at 10:00 AM Wade is out giving the track the final touches and it’s a nice day with light clouds and slight breeze.

Once again I have to give props to SCT for coming on board sponsoring our event coverage this year.

Terry Elam is changing the turbos this morning.

Several Limited Street cars showed up late last night of this morning, includig Keith Szabo.

Kevin Scott showed up this morning as well.

They are just finishing up installing a fresh transmission in David Hance’s record setting drag radial Mustang. A lot of folks were having trans issues Friday, Troy Pirez, Matt Mungall, Walt Drakeford, Buck Walker, I am sure I missed someone though. At the power thse cars are making transmissions seem to be a weak link.

Randy Blackmon is here with new paint. Randy crashed the car at last years ORTC Bradenton. On the cars first hit since he spun the tires. Jeff Prock from Applied Nitrous Technologies is on hand to get things tuned in.

They changed the tires on Dave Hinzmas car after 34 runs. Hopefully this will help them out getting down the track.
