If you are running a turbo system on your racecar or high performance street car then you know the importance of having a quality wastegate. Turbosmart Performance Products’ new Power-Gate 60 external wastegate is designed for competition use and is built to withstand those elements. Available in both red and blue caps, this 60 MM was crafted with the greatest of detail in mind. Body in White Camaro

I originally thought that under the cover in the GM Performance Parts booth sat a body in white Camaro. After further inspection, the body in white appeared as a RC car body, but rest assured, there are full size versions coming.

The body in white program is simple; the program is designed specifically for folks that plan to build an all out racecar. All you get is complete metal, including floor pans and all frame components. Though the model shows a front bumper, it will not be included since it is a plastic piece. GMPP will offer a complete parts list of all the factory parts you may want to use on your body in white. The bodies will be priced at $7,000 and they will produce as many as people want, because lets face it, a bare chassis that is sprayed is much easier to make!



The LS9 Becomes a Crate Engine

The highest horsepower engine GM has ever produced will now be offered in a crate engine with a very limited amount of engines produced. The twin-screw TVS Eaton blower feeds the LS based engine 6-8 pounds of boost to produce a staggering 638 horsepower and 604 ft/lbs. This is a conservative amount of boost for this engine and there is no doubt we will see people doubling it in an effort to produce over 700 horsepower out of a factory built engine. GMPP will release the engine without a harness or controller currently, but look mid year for that package. Additionally, you will need to fend for your self on accessories like alternator, power steering, AC, etc.

Since this engine is expensive and is so prestigious, there is no doubt that some of the top engine builders will use the LS9 for all their top projects. There will even be a part number release for the clear cover that is in the ZR1 hood so that car builders can fabricate them into their own hot rods.

When you’re running a lot of power, you need all the air you can get, especially when it comes to forced induction applications. Wilson released a new 105 MM throttle body that is 3D cut. Looking at the throttle body, you can see that they significantly reduced the amount of metal on the throttle body. Being a racing application, there isn’t a partition for an Idle Air Control valve. The double clip shaft maintains proper butterfly position while the larger sealed bearings keep the shaft rotating smoothly. The throttle body is offered in V-Clamp and traditional slip on styles for front side while the manifold-side comes O-ringed so there is no need for a gasket.

Autometer has a new, trick tach that is designed mainly for NASCAR, but can be used on any application. With this tach, not only do you get a high RPM warning, there is also a “window switch” for a specified RPM band. There is also an additional controller that allows you to select your RPM points down to the single RPM. If you wanted a rev limiter of 6523 RPM, you could do that with 1 RPM of accuracy

If your coming off pit road and 2561 RPM is 45 MPH and the maximum speed is 50 MPH on pit road with a 2748 RPM point for that speed, the multi-color and 5 dot system will progressively advance as you get closer to the maximum RPM desired; if you go over the high RPM limit, the face will flash at you.

Ferrera has released a new line of solid, lightweight lifters geared directly towards racers looking to save weight in their valvetrain. The lifters are available for all domestic applications and are 59-66 grams lighter per lifter, depending on application. The redesigned EDM hole keeps oil flowing, which can be an issue on solid lifter applications. The lifters also work well with hardened steel camshafts. Additional features include a forged pushrod seat and multi-stage heat treatment for increased strength.



New Lubricants and Sealants by Hylomar

Ferrera has partnered up with Hylomar to create a whole line of lubricants and sealants to keep your engine leak free and running good. There are a slew of sealants, like the Blue Racing Formula that never completely hardens and does not have to be scraped off if the two parts are removed from each other, unless the sealant becomes contaminated. Other sealants include thread locker and exhaust sealant.

LS Swap Radiators

In the quest to make LS engine swapping easier amongst various chassis, Be Cool has a line of radiators specifically designed for LS engines; they even have different diameter in/outlets for the various generation needs. A lot of modern-day muscle cars use hydraulic release bearing; they help simplify your drivetrain. The problem with the factory units comes with the inability to adjust them and the lack of travel. The RAM replacement bearing triples the throw length and also makes the release and engagement reaction quicker. The OEM replacements are a direct fitment for S197 and all LS applications, but RAM also offers a universal bearing depending on your transmission that can be adapted to a wide variety of applications.

Keeping your engine cool should always be at the top of your list. Having a good radiator helps your engine run efficiently and make more power safely.
