SGMP Outlaw Radial Results

Saturday South Georgia Motorsports Park had is first Heads Up Havok event and I took a ride up Friday for some testing with Donald and Amanda Long. We unloaded the car and got everything set up and waited for the lanes to open. Tony Ridenour also brought “The Spider” for some pre race tuning with Alan Dudley and David Reese, as Tony just made the switch from nitrous to an alcohol injected Procharged setup. Both teams had been out testing at Sunshine dragstrip a week ago where Amanda got down with a personal best of 5.41 and Tony managed a 5.10 driving through some tire shake.

A bad fuel pump on Tony’s car was discovered and replaced for the race, though some damage may have been done, as after a couple of hits at SGMP a dead hole was found which ended their weekend early.

Amanda’s best for the weekend was a nice 5.26 on Friday night. During first round qualifying some power was taken out to assure a smooth run in the heat which resulted in a 5.99 @ 136. Sad to say the third link broke on that pass sending them home as well.

Chad Henderson was on the grounds fresh from TRZ Motorsports with his nitrous sniffing BBC powered Buick. The guys at TRZ updated the car to 25.5 spec and also did some other updates/modifications. Team Henderson were on point with a nice 4.97 Friday night, then Saturday first round went down with a 5.12@ 136, hurting a cylinder in the process and giving them number three spot in the final order.

Kenny Markwich and his father showed up as well. They had a very disappointing test session at Gainesville recently, suffering poor track conditions, and, well, I’ll just leave it at that, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they didn’t go back there. Running a soft tuneup after replacing a leaky head gasket Kenny was happy with the performance Friday night and spent Saturday re-torquing the heads. They had second fast MPH (149.28) during qualifying, but apparently did’nt make the call for first round.

Will Stevenson was on a rail, running 4.90’s at will after Kevin and Kimber (CutlassRacer and zracer) went through the transmission in a late night session after having problems with it staying in gear Friday. Kimber attributes the fix to a key fob, whatever that is. LOL Will runs a Procharged blowthrough BBC and once again proves the haters wrong. Since I rode with the Long’s and they were out of competition I had to make an early exit so I will leave you with these words from Will posted on Yellowbullet, and the qualifying and elimination results from Wade at SGMP.

If you have never run at SGMP it is an excellent facility and Wade had the track prep perfect.
