Sheikh Khalid Stuns us all With a 3.66 at 209mph in Qatar

The venerable Camaro Pro-Mod body has been a popular sight to be seen participating in any of the elite door-slammer races all around the world, while undoubtedly it works. Sheikh Khalid has done something remarkable with his Tim Mcamis '68 this last weekend. With the help of U.S. based crew chief Frank Manzo, Khalid was able to put down a 3.72 in qualifying right off the trailer, later improving his qualifying run with a 3.68 at 209, nearly breaking the door-slammer records.

Pro-Extreme has been garnering lots of attention in Qatar as of late and rightfully so - what would arguably be considered the fastest door-slammers in the world are currently competing there, with many U.S. teams even making the trip to get in on some winter racing action. After cruising through an easy bye-run in the first round, in a second round appearance against Bader Ali, the team stepped up and ran a stunning 3.66 at 209.46 mph, setting a new Arabian elapsed time record as well as the world-wide speed record for a door-slammer in the 1/8th mile. It's no secret now that the Pro Extreme cars are doing well over there.

When it came down to the finals, Khalid was going up against Alex Hossler and his split-bumper Camaro, while Khalid's car was doing great, Hossler took the win on a hole-shot. Khalid was still happy however, stating, “I guess Alex and I are even now, you’re bound to be on the losing end of a hole shot every now and then if you’re racing at this level, and we’re just happy to have an Al-Anabi Racing hot rod in the final round again for all the fans here in Qatar.”

Going into the seventh and final round of the Arabian Drag Racing League season, Khalid finds himself locked into a three-way battle for the Pro Extreme championship along with Von Smith and Alex Hossler. It'll be an exciting final, knowing that anyone can win - all teams involved will be at the top of their game with tensions running high.
