| Traction Control Newbie I met Tom Bobolts at the PRI show. He came by my booth and we talked traction control for a while. He asked if I would post on here and answer electronics questions.
I have been involved in drag racing practically my whole life. After graduating from Colo State with a Computer Info Systems degree in 1997, I worked for Pi Research as their drag racing support engineer for three years. I was able to work with the Gibbs TF team, the GM and Dodge PST teams,and the Winston TF and FC.
Pi decided to get out of drag racing at the end of the 1999 season. I called Alan Johnson to tell him the news and he asked if I would be his data acquisition engineer on the Winston TF team. I worked with Alan until he shut down his FC operation and began working for DSR. I then began helping several PS teams doing their electronics.
A fellow named Shannon Davis looked me up around 2000. He was looking for someone to answer some drag racing electronics questions to see how his traction control would work. We talked for a long time. He eventually asked me to help him develop traction control for the Outlaw racing scene that was beginning to grow. I still work with Shannon and we have alot of fun developing new forms of electronics. We just made a traction control system that will work with a NX progressive controller. Instead of retarding timing, our traction control can progressively reduce nitrous. My site is dragtraction.com
I am sure there is someone thinking 'wow, this guy worked with NHRA cars and also sells traction control!!!!' Well I will tell you I have a gentleman's agreement with NHRA. They let me help teams at national events and I agree to not install traction control on any car. Plus hell think about it, they know which teams I work with, so if they wanted to look for traction control on my cars no one is stopping them.
I am not an electrical engineer. My knowledge of electronics is mainly from experience. If anyone has a question I can't answer. I am sure I know someone that will know.
