Testing Friday Night

Well here i am at I-22 after almost 13 hours on the road, what a ride. The UORS series features several index classes, 7.00, 6.00 and 5.30also Ultimate Street, which is contested on a 275 Drag Radial, Outlaw Drag Radial, True Ten Five (TT5) and Automatic Pro Mods as well as jet dragster exhibition racing.

In Ultimate Street Eric Kenward made one test pass to a 5.43.

Outlaw Drag Radial racer Randy Westmoreland was the first car out and ran a nice 4.85. They had a severe fire early this year and this is the second race with the car.

Kolivas goes 4.81 @ 159 MPH off the trailer, quickest so far in testing.

Tony Ridenour ran a 4.82, Donald "The Mayor" Long is on hand helping out the goodtimers.

Kevin Fiscus is also here, he had to pedal the car on his run earlier.

Relative newcomer to Drag Radial is Mitch Zaretsky. he has a fresh engine in the car after suffering some damage at the ORTC in May.

David Reese is running TT5 this weekend.

Some of the index classes have some interesting cars like this blown SCB powered Bug.

From left to right Smokin Joe Zacaro, Davey Gonzoles, Jerry Ford, Harold Washington.

This is David Reese’s first time out with the new engine combo, it’s a 720 ci BBC by Buck Racing Engines with an F3 procharger. They juts fired it up today here at the track. He did not make a pass in qualifying tonight.

The Mustang being driven by Randy Westmoreland was also built and is maintained by him at Sherwood Performance. The car is owned by Ricky Dunn and is powered by a 509 BBC with Air Flow Research CNC ported 357 Magnum Heads. They hail from Hot Springs Arkansas.

Shane Stack in the house.

This awesome Willys runs out of Hallmans Body Shop Fayette Alabama, it’s got a blown 526 Hemi with a Lenco 3 speed Bruno transmission.

Shane Crowden and Larry Waldrop are in partners with this Mustang out of Olive Branch Mississippi. The engine in this car is a fresh 604 ci BBC with Brodix spread port heads.

Chad Henderson has a fresh 632 for this race. Monte Smith takes care of the engine and nitrous tune on the car.

Brady Mcnew and the Mad Man and Co have the Orange Crush here for it’s race debut, it’s a twin Procharged BBC. I’ll have more on the team tomorrow.

Eric Dillard and crew are here, and number two qualifier so far behind Jeff Cooner.

Things kicked off about 12 noon today for the TNT session. Second round qualifying should start around 2 PM.

Sirius Video is here on site and streaming live video throughout the event. You can find check it out on Siriusvideo.com

I took a few shots of their production van, they have a lot of stuff, which is what it takes to do what they do.

The order of the day seems to be converter changes. Mitch Zaretsky and another Drag Radial racer were at it this morning.

here are couple shots of the crystal trophys UORS is handing out. I have to say they are very nice and will be a fine addition to a racers shelf.

Breakfast time in the Goodtimer pits with Tony Ridenour manning the grill.

Mafia Motorsports has a tent vending T Shirts and accessories.

They are still working to add grandstand space at the new facility.

Automatic Pro Mod racer Cory Raben's chute failed to open on his test hit and he ran just of the end of the track after a 4.12 @ 189 MPH, he is ok.

Shane Stack changed the valve springs on the Monte Carlo last night.

Kevin Scott put on some new skins this morning and ran a nice 4.99.

Karen Bryant UORS Race Director chatting with the Zacaro team early this morning

David Reese sheared the crack keyway last night and will not be making the show with the new car. They should be able to be ready for Steel in 2 weeks.

Congrats to Eric Kenward and TRZ Motorsports, during todays test session he had a stellar 1.19 60', which is the quickest to date for a Modified/Ultimate Street car on a 275 radial. TRZ Motorsports had just installed a new rear housing with a new design back brace. The 330' time indicates the car could run a 5.19 but they are experiencing some excessive converter slip this weekend.

Steve K irk is taking care of a minor issue in the pits before qualifying today.

Team Controlled Chaos is here to do a stunt bike exibition. I will have some pics of that up later.
