Several months ago we broke the news that everyone had heard rumors about and been chatting about across the message forums for some time. Yes it is true that the team of Tim Lynch and Steve Petty have put together a completely awesome engine program which this year will feature a nearly 660 cubic inch Chevrolet style big block.
All the haters have jumped on board bashing Tim and crew for doing what they have done here but when you want to beat the fastest you will join the fastest in what they are doing. Not that Lynch is not a bad man on 10.5’s but there are several cars that have a real hankering to derail the Proline train of success. One of those is the Camaro driven by Chuck Ulsch with the 526 cubic inch
Brad Anderson blower motor between the frame rails they have quickly placed themselves back atop the field. Thus leaving the Lynchmob on the outside looking in which is exactly why they have changed their engine configuration broadening cylinder head choice as well as readily available parts.
The Chevrolet style engines offer a wide range of cylinder head choices allowing power numbers to be off the charts versus the old Ford style head where they were limited to the C460 head which was as good as they got. With
Sonny Leonard prepping the heads they outflow the old ones by a huge number and should be a major key in making the power they are looking for. It is rumored also that the new engine will be finding its way in a new car as well later this year. I have heard a Corvette but the Lynchmob was unavailable for comment at this time. One thing is for sure you will be seeing this baby hitting a track real soon looking to be back on top.
