This Saturday we will celebrate our independence by spending time with family and enjoying some fireworks, as our hard working men and women of the military defend for our freedom. For that we thank them dearly. It just happens that my local track has their own idea to provide fireworks for the fans as they have scheduled a wheelstand competition to go along with the day’s events.

Ever since I can remember there has been a few people who were simply able to “wow” the crowds with wild wheelies on any given Friday night. That is when the Outlaw Pro Street program was ran and guys like Mike Weisgerber would come out to compete. Mike became known for huge crowd pleasing wheelies in his supercharged Camaro, which actually held records for the longest wheel stand at several tracks. Another one of the wild ones was Jay Crawford in the Chevrolet Nova, lastly known as the “Wild WheelStander”. Crawford now takes a proactive position as the track manager to insure that the others racing and competing will be safe as they can, after his horrific crash behind the wheel of the Nova.

The wheel stand competitors will have two attempts at the prize money. One will be judged for the longest and one for the highest. Each winner will receive $500 and a huge trophy. Along with the wheel stand competition the regular show will go on as scheduled with drag radial, outlaw 10.5, big tire outlaw, and heads up dragsters. StreetLegalTV will be on hand to catch all the competition of the event courtesy of Brian Free.
