DollaBill, you race in drag because you look for any chance to wear a dress. You're not fooling anyone.

It's just the small amount of time spent on the track that gets me. I've been involved in races on the dirt track where I have gotten out of the car soaked in sweat, completely out of breath, and heartbeat going 200 mph.
I can't imagine getting the same rush from a drag race. Does it happen??

By All Means I am looking to stir the pot here and get a battle between circle and strip guys, But at the same time, I'd like to get some first hand accounts detailing WHY someone should choose drag racing over circle track. Has anyone ever done both and how does it compare? or does it?

In my mind you have a split second to beat your opponent in a drag race, whereas in my racing, I can sit there for 19 laps and then smoke you off the last corner and take the win. (not that my car will smoke anyone)

And hey Bobby, I am hoping my ugly car won't be so ugly next year. but I have to say, I'm going to miss the cringing from Mr Clean. Someone needs to get photos of him as he looks over my car!! PRICELESS. Looks Something Like This
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/K...ash_203993.htm

Watch this vid then you tell me. LOL

Seriously I think lot of folks get interested in drag racing because it's the eppitome of grass roots racing. You don't need to spend big dollars on a car to race, you can race what you drive every day if you wish. That cannot be said for other types of racing. You can't go race on a dirt oval with a street driven 85 Camaro.

Personally I don't think I would like oval track racing in cars, cart's maybe for fun. We are going to have a meet after the PRI show at a local go cart oval track with some other racing folks in town. Ill film some stuff there if they let me. last time I beat everyone except the guy who actually races carts. LOL

I would love to get on a road course like Sebring someday as I love carving corners too, or perhaps do some autocross, though most of the auto cross events are geared towards small low powered cars. They are trying to get some intrest locally for an event geared towards muscle cars. If I can manage my schedule I will go up there to see whats what.

Racing Dad and Chevelle Rob

Thanks for the responses!!

Chevelle Rob, That driver in the video is amazing!! There are times on our dirt track where something happens and we have to keep it off the wall like that.

I have to be honest, I expected more of a scuffle on this thread about drag racing being better and vice versa. But from what I am reading, the two different areas of car racing DO have Many things in common. When it comes down to it, it's all about making your car faster and beating your competition.
I must assume the comraderie is the same as CT racing also. On the track under the helmet, you will slaughter your own brother, but off the track you'd help your arch rival get his car ready for the main.

I also must admit I had forgotten that ever since people have had cars they have been tweaking on them to make it faster than the next, and I assume drag racing was the first form of a test.

My personal opinion is that CT racing is more fun. The reason I say this, is because if your competitive, you can run side by side with someone for lap after lap. Literally a couple inches from them. When I think about drag racing, I completely understand the mechanics and what it takes for you to be competitive. but when the race lasts less than 20 seconds, it seems to me that it sure takes a lot of work for such little racing time.

In closing I would like to make it clear, I may from time to time try to rattle your cages, but I would NEVER expect you to take my digs seriously. As Joe Racing Dad Webb has stated, Racing is Racing. It's all about Fun and beating the Next guy.
I get it.....some people have skill to drive straight, others have refined and honed their skills to a higher level and choose to race on circle tracks!!

Thanks Again for the Responses.

P.S. dolladolla and kbro.....Get a Room already!!! your making us californians look bad!!

I feel a Battle coming on at K-1 Speed!!!!!

By far the best racing experience for the money I have found. Don't let the electric karts fool you. They get up and go!!! Fresh kart every run.

Pole Position is just a stones throw away from our office. You should make the drive down, BJ might be to scared to turn right but I'm not. PLUS they have 45 min ironman races there. Think you can handle that long of a race?
