Car companies go to great lengths to keep the looks and performance of upcoming cars under wraps until the official reveal. Besides not wanting to tip their hand to competitors, a new car unveil is often accompanied by a lot of pomp and circumstance for the gathered media types, which results in a lot of free publicity.
Here’s the thing though; some people just don’t want to wait. If car companies don’t guard their secrets with jealous zeal, then their car could wind up all over the Internet before you can say “Doh!” T-Hunted, a Brazilian Hot Wheels enthusiast website, posted up pictures of upcoming models for the famous toy brand…among them, the 2013 SRT Viper.
This is a huge slip up if its true, as we doubt Chrysler intended for the first images of the reborn supercar to be so…pixelated. Carscoop did come across a much nicer image of the 2013 SRT Viper Hot Wheels, and from comparing this to the teaser shot of the Viper’s outline and carbon fiber scoop, there are a number of similarities.
Thankfully, this very much so looks like a Viper still. But just how much it looks like the real 2013 SRT Viper will have to wait until the New York Auto Show in April. Though judging from the reaction around the web, Chrysler done messed up this time. Maybe they should just reveal it right now and get it over with…
