There is something to be said about an all original, minimal mileage muscle car. Especially if that car was traditionally built by owners right after they got them. But as one Pro-Touring.com member has found out, owning one of these gems may be cool on paper but isn’t exactly all that fun when it comes to driving. That is why another build is underway.
The forum member, known only to us by his forum name “Buryingthesun,” is new to the Pro-Touring site. As part of his mere 10 posts on the forum, he decided to share his project car with the rest of the pro-touring enthusiasts.
The forum member owns a ‘67 Firebird 326 with only 32,000 miles on it- a dream car for the purest type. But, just like many muscle car guys, the need to have more power and better handling trumps purity. This is why the member is planning to beef up the suspension and brakes, as well as throwing a stroked 400cui engine in the mix. Unlike some individuals with project cars, Buryingthesun states in his original post that he doesn’t plan on putting a ton of money into it.
While the purists may get themselves into a tizzy thinking about the forum member’s build, he states that he wants the car to meet his wants and needs. Right now, without the brake upgrades, he will not take the car on the highway. He also states that right now the car is nice in a garage or to pull out just to watch, but driving it could be better-thus the start of the build.
Unfortunately, the build has not really started yet. The forum member doesn’t have any specific parts listed or pictures of the tear-down yet, but he does provide pictures of the “Before.” We must say, the forum member definitely has a beautiful car to start his project with, and while it may not be the “pure” thing to do, we’re glad to see another car guy making his car his own work of art. We look forward to future updates on this pending project.
