When knocking around the expanses of the internet, you’re likely to bump across some stuff that will raise questions. In the realm of the automotive, you might find skeptical rumors about an upcoming car, or read the B.S. technical explanation of some ‘internet mechanic’. Well, we found this rendering of a ’68 Charger R/T by Khyzyl Saleem, and for us it begged the question “why the hell has no one built this?!”
Khyzyl Saleem is a concept artist for Ghost Games, an art studio for the video game company EA. He has an ArtStation page chock full of crazy, imaginative car renderings – most heavily leaning towards tuner styling – but this one in particular stood out. In a short description of the rendering, he states that he worked with automotive photographer Webb Bland, who shot the original photo.
Saleem says that the car is a mix between a Porsche 917k racecar and a ’68 Charger R/T. Both cars are incredible individually, but stick them together and voila! Even if you’re a purist and aren’t a fan of toying with an already flawless design, you have to hand it to the Saleem – this artwork is very well done. If only the Porsche 917k wasn’t a 20-million dollar, historically significant racecar, so we could tear it apart, stick a Charger body on it, and make this beast a reality.
But what do you think – would you build this? Is this a monstrosity you’d like to see snapping necks at the strip, or is it better off as a rendering? Let us know in the comments.
