An engine swap that may concern muscle car enthusiasts, a fifth-generation Ford Mustang has been transplanted with a Mercedes Benz V12 engine. Posted by Engine Swap Depot, this Ford Mustang has become a unique specimen that will surely turn heads.
The Evil Empire drift team began building this Mustang in 2011, swapping the factory motor for a 5.5 liter Mercedes M275 V12 from a Maybach. To get the V12 operational in the Mustang, the builders utilized two Tatech T32 Pro ECUs, which help to control each side of the engine.
Essentially, the Mercedes V12 is two inline-six engines that are mated to a single crankshaft. With the engine having a power output of 641 horsepower and 796 lb./ft. of torque, the Mustang even cranks 442 lb./ft. of torque at just 1,700RPM.
Power meets the pavement with a Tremec T-56 Magnum six-speed transmission, an Alcon clutch, and a Ford Motorsport 9 inch rearend. Observing inside the red beast, the Mustang has been fully gutted and fitted with a roll cage.
Furthermore, the wide hugging wheels should help to give the Mustang adequate traction even during drifting sessions from the Evil Empire drivers. The body kit on the Mustang only adds more aggression to the powerful red Mustang.
Given not many enthusiasts would consider dropping a European V12 motor into an American muscle car, we commend Evil Empire on their successful transplant. With plenty of horsepower and a wide wheelbase, Evil Empire’s Mustang will be sure to be smoking the tarmac wherever it goes.
