We stopped by AFCO‘s booth at the 2010 SEMA show to see what was new and AFCO’s Eric Saffell showed us the new gadget in the arsenal; The Perfect fit K-member for Mustangs.

Saffell told us that “these K-Members are a perfect fit replacement and upgrade for the OE K-members.  They are stronger and allow you to mount practically any engine combo into your Fox Body or SN95 Ford.”

Perfect fit implies that nothing beyond common hand tools are required for installation and Saffell supported that claim: “you don’t need crow bars to install this piece.  It bolts up perfectly and we’ll even sell you the motor mounts to support whatever engine you are dropping into your machine.”

There are some added features that make this K-member a real pleasure for the do-it-yourselfer.  The nut retention system makes for an easy, one wrench installation process.  The slotted mounts where the K-member mount to the chassis allow for factory manufacturer tolerances in chassis and the reinforced upper mounts allow for tight bolts to secure the K-member to the frame.

Engine Swap Headers

Saffell also pointed out their new Engine Swap Headers.  According to Saffell, these headers allow for mounting big and small block Ford engines, big and small block Chevy into Mustang using an aftermarket K-member.  “These headers are designed to take the heartache out of mounting different engines into your Mustang chassis, especially the Fox Body Mustangs.
