The owner of a Plum Crazy Purple Plymouth ‘Cuda was run over by his own vehicle in a bizarre incident that also destroyed part of a neighbor’s fence this week. The Plymouth Barracuda was about to be loaded on a car carrier in the city of Bunbury, about 175 miles south of Perth on Australia’s southwest coast.
“The car was sitting on the road idling when it dropped into reverse and started rolling backwards,” explained Senior Constable Aaron Mathews. “The owner has gone to get into it and stop it, the car has gained speed and knocked the owner to the ground and the wheel has gone over the top of him.”
The truck driver, who had been waiting to load the car, kept the car owner company until an ambulance arrived and then helped police remove the car from the fence. The 27-year-old muscle car enthusiast was taken to Bunbury Regional Hospital with leg injuries.
The car was being shipped back to Queensland, as it was not considered sufficiently roadworthy to be licensed.
Maybe they were confused by the steering wheel being on the wrong side…
