The economy is still tough out there, making it more difficult for people to be able to buy brand new cars. But what if those new cars were half price? That’s exactly what AutoNation Direct is offering to bidders on eBay this week only. Now through Friday, you can get your hands on one of 29 cars being sold in flash sales for half the MSRP value. But as we found out from USA Today, you have to act fast and watch eBay like a hawk because the promotional cars show up on the auction site randomly and only last a minute or so before someone snatches them up.

AutoNation Direct is the largest online seller of vehicles in the country and a branch of the automotive sales giant AutoNation. This week’s promotion is meant to bring awareness to the company’s  presence on eBay.

So how does it work? Well, according to eBay, AutoNation Direct will be offering four cars ranging from the 2011 to 2013 model year each day for seven days. Each car is scheduled to randomly appear on the auction site with a “Buy It Now” price half of what the MSRP value of the car is.

Bidders can then snatch up the cars on a first-come, first-serve basis. On March 30^th, the last day of the promotion, only one car will be posted for sale- a ‘12 Chevy Corvette.

The sale started on March 23^rd so 16 cars have already been sold, most of which only lasted on eBay for a matter of a couple minutes before someone bought them. Included in the cars already sold was a ‘13 Chevy Malibu, ‘11 and ’12 Chevy Cruze, ‘12 Chevy Volt and a ‘12 Chevy Sonic. There have also been a few Nissans and Fords sold. The auction kicked off with the sale of two ‘12 Camaro 2LS models.

The prices that these cars are being sold for are unbelievable. The Malibu went for $13,480, the Cruzes went for $9,957.50 and $9,530.00, and the Camaros sold for just $12,720.

In order to get your hands on one of the remaining cars to be auctioned off this week, you must have a valid bidder ID on eBay. The first person who clicks “Buy It Now” and makes an immediate $500 deposit for the current vehicle will win the car. Buyers must then get all the remaining money to AutoNation Direct and take delivery of their vehicle within five days of their flash purchase.

If you’re quick on the draw and can watch eBay Motors closely throughout the day, you might just have a chance at scoring yourself a brand new affordable Chevy. So, get your eBay bidder ID if you don’t already have one and get yourself planted in front of the computer screen for the next 96 hours.
