You know that “MacGyver” car buddy that you have, the one who can whittle tires out of oak trees and smelts glass for his home-made headlights? Well, while perusing through Pro-Touring.com (one of our our favorite time killers) we came across this thread of this fantastic ’67 Barracuda console.

What confused us initially was that the car was not at all a Pro-Touring machine, but a drag race car, and an awesome one at that. How it got there is beyond us, but the owner was happy to share his recipe for creating a really trick home-made console.

Hey began by creating a cardboard template, made appropriately out of old Summit Racing boxes and a roll of duct tape. The template was carefully laid out to allow room for an armrest, two storage bins, cup holders, stereo, etc. and tucked in nicely between the bucket seats and around the pistol grip shifter.

The template was then transferred to wood where each piece was cut out, fit, and glued together as a unit. Finally, a nice patch of leather was stitched around the entire package and the cubby hole and drink holder inserts were put into place.

By the look of the craftsmanship of this item we’re guessing this was not this person’s first rodeo when it comes to work working and fabrication. All we know is that for some reason we now feel incredibly lazy.
