One of our favorite sites to visit over the lunch hour (or any hour really) is Pro-Touring.com. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, the Pro Touring movement is completely where it’s at today in regards the wonderful world of muscle cars. People are now interesting in making cars that look cool into corner carving monsters to keep up with the likes of Corvettes and Porsches. Truth be told, just getting a muscle car to handle as well as a modern Toyota Camry would be a huge leap in performance, but we digress.

We found the build thread for this ’67 Tempest on Pro-Touring and it’s a great story to follow. It started out as a high school graduation gift for the current owner’s buddy and after trading hands a few times now has a permanent home.

The owner has shaved the trim, locks, door handles, etc. and has added a full air ride suspension. He is now in the process of mini-tubbing it, which on an A-Body car is no small feat.

Unlike a Camaro it’s not simply a matter of installing bigger wheel tubs as it also includes notching the frame. It’s not a weekend job for two buddies and a case of beer, to be sure.

We give big kudos to the owner for the progress thus far, and also for not turning the Tempest into a GTO clone. Sometimes it’s cool to be different!
