You’re a car guy, right? If that’s the case, we’re sure that you pay attention to things going on at the SEMA show. If you do, then you certainly knew about the Battle of the Builders competition that took place at the 2014 event. If not, maybe you caught the hour-long episode highlighting the event on Velocity Channel. If neither pertain to you, then please, read on.
In 2014, the SEMA show hosted the the inaugural competition, and the event-within-an-event featured an outstanding array of entries from a varied group of builders with definitely-varied tastes. These builders were given the opportunity to showcase their build talents by creating an outstanding vehicle, and displaying that car or truck at the show in Las Vegas. While at the show, each vehicle was eligible to compete for top honors, and to be recognized at the SEMA Ignited party. There were musclecars, hot rods, and trucks. The actual competition saw 125 entries, and was judged initially by a panel of automotive editors that narrowed the list down to 10 finalists from those that entered. The overall winner of the ten finalists was then selected by the finalists themselves. This is truly a judging by your peer’s event. When the competition was over, the entire process was documented in a one-hour television special that aired on the Velocity Channel.
If you enjoyed last year’s close competition, then this year is your year to enter. We’re sure that the competition will be just as challenging as last year. SEMA has announced that applications are now being accepted at www.semaignited.com for the 2015 SEMA Battle of the Builders competition. The event is once again being held during the annual SEMA Show, which is November 3-6, 2015.
The 2015 SEMA Battle of the Builders competition is open to any car, motorcycle, or truck builder that participates in the SEMA show by having either a display, feature, or booth vehicle at the 2015 SEMA Show. The competition is open to show participants participating in all market segments. This includes trucks, hot rods, street rods, off-road, motorsports, sport compacts, luxury exotics, and the like. It doesn’t matter what kind of car, motorcycle, or truck that you build. If it “floats your boat”, all are encouraged to enter at www.semaignited.com. At last year’s competition, a ’69 Camaro set the high mark. This year, we need to see another “Hardcore” Chevy take home the honors.
