Once upon a time, Buick was a valiant warrior clan on the front lines of the Muscle Car Wars. With noble nameplates like Wildcat, GSx, and of course the mighty Regal, these cars represented the General in a merciless fashion. But over the years Buick has gone soft, gotten fat and old and lazy, and lost that belly full of fire that once made it a performance destination. Leave it to the General to stir up old memories and rekindle some of that passion.
Autoblog’s team of spy photographers somehow caught some shots of a completely uncovered Buick Regal Turbo Wagon. And it looks mighty good.
The new Buick Regal has been receiving its fair share of accolades from the motoring press, especially the turbocharged version with a manual transmission.
While 220 horsepower may not sound like a lot, the 258 ft-lbs of torque real helps liven up the Regal. But there is still something missing, besides a coupe version of course, and that’s a long roof wagon.
Station wagons were once the height of auto-trendiness, and they seem to be making a comeback, especially sport wagons in luxury brands. So it makes sense that GM would want to offer a cheaper alternative to the CTS-V Sport Wagon, which stickers at around $70,000 (depending on the options).
With the base price of a Buick Regal turbo hovering closer to $30,000, a wagon option would add but a few thousand dollars. And we think it looks mighty good for a station wagon. All that’s left is to crank up the boost and the horsepower and let ‘er rip.
