It is not uncommon to find our beloved American cars renamed under sister manufacturers for other automotive markets. In fact, this has been common practice since before the muscle car era. While we may not always be aware of these renamed cars, it is exciting when we come across one- and that we have.
Soon to be auctioned off at the Dallas, Texas Mecum Auction is a ‘67 Pontiac Acadian. While you may know it better as a reworked Chevy II, the Acadian had a different grill, trim work and upholstery from its Chevrolet sister.
To show nationalistic pride, just like other renamed Chevrolets, the Acadian was named after early French Maritime settlers who shared the same name. It was also offered in the Canso, Beaumont and Invader series.
The Acadian up for auction is one of only 315 2-door hardtops built as documented by GM Canada Vintage Vehicle Services. As a former Super Stock car, the Acadian is equipped with a 383cui, 475hp stroker engine and four-speed transmission. It also has a narrowed 12-bolt rear end, Autometer gauges and Weld wheels. The car is finished off in a blue and silver paint scheme with black interior components. While she may not look that mean, we’re sure that this Acadian can pack quite the punch.
If you’d like a chance at owning this unique Canadian-exclusive car, it is set to cross the auction block at the Dallas auction on Saturday October 8th at 4:30p.m. We look forward to seeing how much attention this unique vehicle gets.
