We remember growing up as kid getting oh-so-excited about a trip to the local slot car track. These cool mini-racers sit on electrified tracks and zip around courses set up by owners and enthusiasts. Some people who are really into slot cars even go so far as to build tracks in their basements or man caves, and customize these tracks much like they do their cars.
While we’ve seen some cool custom slot cars, this custom track loaded with replicas of vintage Trans Am cars, found over at Pro-Touring, is one of the coolest toy car tracks we’ve ever seen.
The simple Figure 8 layout belies a very detailed track complete wit pit stop, a Goodyear Tire bridge, tow trucks and other support vehicles. There are a number of vintage race cars out on the track too, some of them fancy purpose-built racers, others of the vintage Trans Am variety. Mustangs, Camaros, and Mopars are all apparent on this slot car circuit.
It’s the little details that really make this track cool though, like the water-logged Camaro covered in mud with a kinkled hood and a little driver making his escape. Or the spare tires rolling about the pit stop next to tanks of racing fuel and a flatbed truck. A lot of love and effort went into this track…and it shows. Kind of makes us want to dust off the ol’ remote control and hit the slots, if you know what we mean.
