According to a Motor Authority source, modern-day Mopar muscle fans have something else to rejoice over. Ma Mopar is preparing a huge supercharger package for it’s LX platform SRT cars that will bump horsepower ratings all the way up to 570!
The package itself uses an Eaton unit that is of a twin-screw design. Reports state that the setup will be available directly over the counter from Chrysler and Dodge dealers, though it’s possible that dealers could start to build their own version of new “Yenko” style Chargers and 300’s (and yes, we know it’s sacrilidge to mention a Yenko Chevy reference inside of a Mopar piece).
The supercharger package is specifically being designed with the new 6.4L HEMI engine in mind and will bump up the already stout 470 horsepower “base” rating up by about 100. That power rating puts it in the realm of the new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and Ford Mustang GT500, which is a fact we are sure has not been lost on the boys at the Chrysler.
The kit is expected to launch late next year on 2013 model year cars. Chrysler’s introduction of a new eight-speed automatic just happens to have a similar release date, so count on it being a one-two punch. Camaro ZL1 and Mustang GT500 owners should beware; it’s not fun being beat by a 4-door sedan!
