Christmas is almost here and what a better way to celebrate than with a classic old sled. Santa Clause would approve of this Comet cleanser blue, 1961 Chevy Biscayne 2-door post. If you dig old school, light weight hot rods with period correct speed goodies, check out this old Biscayne on Craigslist in Spanaway,WA.
Running a W-block 348 with a Muncie 4 speed and Hurst linkage this factory radio/clock delete car is ready to roll out with a new owner. Seller says rust free and all mechanicals new or rebuilt. The early sixties style speed goodies include bias ply, redline front tires, Hurst cheater slicks on ET III’s in the rear and glass packs with drag style cut outs.
Inside, the car sports a cool metal flake steering wheel, (Moon? J.C. Whitney?) cue ball shifter, column tach and footsie gas pedal. Upholstery looks newer which only makes old ratty carpet look worse that it is.
Probably the coolest part of this car is that it isn’t a bubble top. The two door post body style is rare and it’s Corvair style cantilevered roof is a vintage GM design at its finest. Also, that the old W block wasn’t yarded out for a 409 is pretty cool too. Whether these two factors make the car rare enough to warrant the asking price of $25K, only time and the market will tell. Whoever the new owner is, it’ll make a fun sled to take to Grandma’s house next Christmas day.
