Craigslist is a great way to find high performance rides for a bargain. In this case it’s a 2010 Dodge Challenger SMS 570 car slathered in Pineapple Express Yellow Metallic (#14 out of #26) with just 16,000 miles on the clock. This Challenger SMS 570 is a creation of Steve Saleen himself. The founder of SMS Supercars (SMS standing for “Steve Mark Saleen”), has expanded his Mustang lineup to now include Camaros and Challengers.
What started out as an R/T Challenger model has been upgraded with Saleen components to become a limited SMS model. Crammed inside of the engine compartment is a 5.7L Hemi V8, which is why the Challenger is dubbed the SMS 570. Atop the Hemi is a SMS 296 supercharger system which utilizes a Lysholm twin-screw compressor with the SMS Six-Pack Intercooler System. It also features 39 lb. fuel injectors, a 85mm throttle body, 100 mm cold air intake, SMS exhaust. It makes 570+ horsepower and 500 lb. ft. of torque with power routed through a Tremec six-speed manual transmission.
The car handles like a dream with new shocks, springs, anti-roll bars and 20-inch wheels wrapped with Pirelli P Zero Rosso rubber. 14-inch rotors sit on all four corners with 6-piston calipers up front and 4-piston calipers on the rear for stopping power. The interior is black and silver with Steve Saleen’s personal signature on the dash and the SMS builder also autographed the engine cowl.
Brand new, this Challenger sold for $90,000 and is now listed for sale by the second owner for just $49,750 and it will include a Diablo programmer and all documentation on the car and its build. Having known the prior owner of this bright yellow beast, we know that the car was traded in on an SRT Challenger, but missing the power that a supercharged Hemi puts out, the original owner then traded up for a Hellcat Challenger. She truly has gasoline in her veins, and this car was meticulously cared for.
