Kids these days don’t enjoy cars like they used to. Most people under the age of 30 have probably never even heard of a little car company once known as AMC. The American Motor Company never did measure up to the Big Three, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t produce some truly excellent automobiles.
Perhaps the pinnacle of AMC performance was the Javelin AMX. Bring A Trailer came across this 1974 AMC Javelin AMX clone on the Minneapolis Craigslist, and for $25,000, why not do something different?
The owner of this classy AMC claims to have owned it for 15 years, and has put just 150 miles on it since completing the most recent modifications. This includes the use of several NOS AMX parts, custom wheels, blacked-out headlights, and a completely custom dashboard. This is one great-looking mid-70s muscle car.
Under the hood is a 401 cubic-inch V8 that has been bored-out and highly modified, likely making north of 300 horsepower. Backing the engine up is a 4-speed Borg Warner manual transmission, though arguably the suspension has gotten the most modification. From anti-sway bars to a WSC coil-over suspension to Wilwood brakes, this Javelin is one hot track ride. For $25,000, would you ditch the Big Three for a little AMC?
