The Boss Mustang has been all over the news the past few weeks. That is because Ford is reviving the iconic name for the 2012 model year with a 440 horsepower 5.0 liter engine and an impressive list of suspension and engine improvements. Of course, the new Boss owes much to the lasting impression the original left on so many people. And it still remains among the most desirable muscle cars ever built.

If you’re looking to get your hands on an original Boss, look no further than this Craigslist ad, which lists a ’70 Boss Mustang for just under $75,000.

The Boss Mustang is among the most limited production Mustangs ever built, having been sold for just two years, 1969 and 1970. Produced and sold to the public as an excuse for the car to gain entry to the Trans Am series, it was essentially a street-legal race car. The centerpiece of the Boss Mustang was the Boss 302 engine, which used a tunnel-port Windsor intake, solid lifters, and Cleveland heads to produce a low-ball power estimate of 290 horsepower.

Other modifications included standard disc brakes, larger sway bars, reinforced shock towers, and a four-speed manual transmission. This particular car underwent a restoration in 2005, and has just over 5,000 miles on it. It is also one of just 88 Boss Mustangs painted white (out of over 7,000 sold in 1970). It is definitely a rare one too. If we had the money, we’d be all over this badass ride.
